Sheree Pinder, Jeanne Westhoff Knight, Kenny Martinson, Bob Barker, Natalie Rinehart and Chris Curtin proudly display the results of the tournament’s hard work.

Uncle Mick’s Bar & Grill, along with the local community, have stepped up for children living in foster care.

Patrons of the popular restaurant, area businesses and about 100 golfers participated in Uncle Mick’s Charity Golf Tournament and raised more than $10,300 to help Child & Family Connections. The nonprofit agency offers programs and services for more than 1,250 at-risk children in Palm Beach County.

The fundraiser took place at Eastpointe Golf and Racquet Club, a recreational facility within Eastpointe Country Club in Palm Beach Gardens, on a near picture-perfect Saturday morning. After golf, players finished the day with an awards banquet and an auction at Uncle Mick’s.

The winning team included Dustin Dunn, Cody Ertle, Anthony Hammer and Joe McGuire. Longest-drive winners were Maggie Caron and Bryant Carter, while Theresa Goulet and Tyler Fox were awarded prizes for closest-to-the-pin.

Child & Family Connections Interim CEO Bob Barker expressed appreciation to the management and employees of Uncle Mick’s for choosing to help foster children.

“We are delighted that Uncle Mick’s owner Kenny Martinson agreed to support CFC and the children we serve with his popular tournament,” Barker said. “It’s with community backing like this from Mick’s, the event sponsors, golfers, an amazing committee and prize donors that something this successful and positive for the children has taken place.”

Committee members included Co-Chairwoman Jeanne Westhoff Knight and Sheree Pinder, and Julie Baker, Rhonda Cunha, Renee Mcalister, Natalie Rinehart, Melisa Shearin, Kathi Teljer and Vicki Waite.

“It’s always nice to keep it local, and everyone just seemed to come together to not only have an incredibly fun day on the course but also at the banquet and auction and to do it for a great cause, as well,” Westhoff Knight said.

Child & Family Connections is charged with managing the organization, enhancement, coordination and oversight of foster care and related services to ensure the safety and security of children and families.
